TORONTO BASED ARTIST, FABRIZIO SCLOCCO WAS BORN IN PESCARA, WHERE HE ATTENDED ART SCHOOL AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE. HE MOVED TO TORONTO IN 2012, WHERE HE ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS WINDOW DISPLAY ARTIST AND LATER AS SET DESIGNER IN THE FILM INDUSTRY THROUGH HIS ARCHITECTURAL BACKGROUND AND ARTISTIC KNOWLEDGE.

TO KNOW HOW TO SELF-ACTUALIZE IN A MODERN SOCIETY HAS ALWAYS INSPIRED ME. STRONG THEMES OF NOSTALGIA, TRADITIONS, BELONGING AND THE ESSENCE OF EMOTIONS PLAY A PROMINENT ROLE IN MY SELF-EXPLORATION AS AN EXPATRIATE. MY GOAL IS TO EXTRAPOLATE THE EGOIC MIND (OUR FEARS, DESIRES, COMPULSIONS, AND HABITS) THROUGH THE STRUCTURAL AND EMOTIONAL COMPONENTS OF ART. I EXAMINE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN UNDERSTANDING THE SENSATIONS OF EVERYDAY LIFE, AND HOW PAST EXPERIENCES INFLUENCE OUR CURRENT EMOTIONS. THE COMPOSITION OF THE WORK RELIES HEAVILY ON THE INTENTIONAL USE OF NEGATIVE SPACE, SYMBOLIZING MOMENTS OF PURE CONSCIOUSNESS AMIDST THE PUSH AND PULL OF THOUGHT AND EMOTION. PURE AND EMPHATIC LINES OF INK AND GRAPHITE ILLUSTRATE RECURRENT EMOTIONS AND REACTIONS. COLOURS FIND THEIR PURPOSEFUL PLACE IN HYPERREALISTIC ILLUSTRATIONS OF SYMBOLS. CONTRARY TO THE CONTOURING LINES OF EMOTION, THE ELABORATE BUSH STROKES OF INTELLECTUAL MEMORY REFLECT DEEPER, ROOTED BEHAVIOURS THAT ARE MORE DEVELOPED RATHER THAN FLEETING. THESE SYMBOLS OF INTELLECT ARE COMBINED WITH CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURAL COMPONENTS TO CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERPRETATION AND ALLOW ACCESS TO THE STRUCTURES OF THE MIND. AS I CONTINUE TO DEVELOP MY EXPRESSION, I WORK TOWARDS BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN THE CONSCIOUS AND UNCONSCIOUS MIND AS THE EGOIC SELF IS UNVEILED AND EXAMINED.
