ARTIST STATEMENT

Fabrizio Sclocco’s art is a journey of self-healing and exploration, echoing the perpetual evolution of the human psyche. Through theatrical sculptures and symbolic motifs, he confronts inner trauma and societal complexities, transforming adversity into beauty. His work serves as a social conduit, prompting reflection on emotions, identity formation, and societal constructs.

Drawing inspiration from Renaissance masters and his background in set design, Sclocco infuses contemporary figurative painting with depth and richness. His compositions, characterized by vibrant colors and deliberate use of negative space, symbolize moments of clarity amidst the chaos of thought and emotion. By layering memories, emotions, and visual symbols, Sclocco invites viewers to decode the intricate narratives within his pieces.

Central to Sclocco’s artistic vocabulary are sculpture-like figures, embodying the masks we wear to navigate societal expectations. Yet, beneath their elegant facades lies a hollow core, a metaphor for hidden trauma and fractured identity.

In his exploration of societal disorder and personal growth, Sclocco challenges conventions and embraces the fluidity of identity. His use of symbols, such as gold leaf as water, tiles as a metaphor for the confining and oppressive behavior, and pearls representing both purity and fragility, invites discourse on the layers of meaning embedded within his work.
